As a Certificated Site, we may take 5 units (Motorhomes & Caravans) and up to 10 tents, where all adults are members of The Camping & Caravanning Club.
Mill Meadow is a 4 acre gently sloping site with generous grass pitches in the rural Parish of St Kew, just a few miles inland from the stunning N Cornwall coast, with Port Isaac just over the hill. The site offers several fresh water points, 6 electric hook-ups each with own water supply, grey water & chemical waste disposal points. We currently do not have toilets or showers, you will need your own onboard facilities, or to bring your own pop-up cubicle. The site is new and still a work in progress but we should have full facilities in 2017.
The camping field is surrounded by farmland, with associated game, poultry, livestock, machinery and ongoing, year round, agricultural working practices, with the approach along quiet farm lanes with large passing places. The wide access entrance is suitable for swinging in with even the biggest of rigs, with a huge off-road hard standing area in front of the entrance gate for early arrivals or extra vehicles.
The camping field is a peaceful ancient meadow in a valley bottom and having been grazed for many years is a safe haven for wildlife and is full of wild meadow species enclosed with ancient hedges. It is bound by Mill Lane on two sides and streams on the other two sides. The fixed serviced pitches face west to fully appreciate the views and the most spectacular sunsets.
We keep a quiet site, with vehicle access permitted only between 7am and 11pm. Well behaved children are most welcome. BBQ’s are permitted (off the ground) and we have a communal fire pit for evening gatherings. Please note that from April to June a portion of Mill Meadow is given over to hay crop which will be cut, turned, baled and collected over a 5 day dry period. Dogs (with up to date worming & vaccinations) are welcome and must be kept on leads and under control at all times. Dogs must never be left on the site in your vehicle, unit or tent while you are absent. A dedicated walk is available for use.
The site will remain open for much of the year, depending on ground conditions, but will be traditionally grazed by ewes and their new lambs for 2 weeks in Dec/Jan to fertilise the meadow, which is then followed by 4 weeks fallow rest prior to camping recommencing. Pre-booking is required as the entrance gate is locked and coded.
John is a driver & mechanic of many years’ experience with most vehicles and boats. He may be able to help with any unit issues, including fibre-glassing repairs, and has motor factor accounts for prompt deliveries of parts. We can provide any ramps/blocks required for our site.
The proprietor reserves the right to remove any persons &/or property causing a nuisance or danger to other site users.
We have a large selection of wetsuits for guests to borrow during their stay with us. These are mostly junior sizes in steps & stairs, which our own children have outgrown. These are stored on the hanging rail in the Reception trailer, alongside a range of body boards which you are also welcome to make use of. Please return the borrowed items in one piece, rinsed and dried. A contribution towards the cost of wear, tear and replacement should be made into the pot provided please. Use of such equipment is entirely at your own risk and you should make sure your own holiday insurance covers you for all such activities both in terms of your own family members and any possible injury you may cause to other beach-goers.
There is a wide range of books on the bookshelves in Reception for both adults and juniors, of both fiction and reference/non- fiction. Please feel free to borrow these and then return them to the appropriate section.
A small selection of puzzles and games are also available for you to borrow/return to use for a quiet or fester day!
A kettle and microwave may be used by campers within Reception in case of dire weather conditions when cooking may prove difficult. We are gradually acquiring a few recycled cable drums which make excellent & mobile camping tables for use by those guests camping without dining facilities.
Outside Reception there are two large raised-bed fully stocked herb planters for guests to cut their own fresh herbs free of charge, and a Jam Shed (aka hedge veg stall) from where we sell our own freshly produced veg, fruit, flowers, jam, marmalade & chutneys.
