About the House (part 1)

Welcome to Wayside - a large self-catering holiday cottage type bungalow, with new combi boiler (sited outside) for full central heating and endless hot water, used regularly by ourselves and visitors all year round. An open fire in the Sitting Room plus a woodburner in the Kitchen/diner complete the feel for a warm winter sanctuary. Positioned in full sun above the harbour at Port Isaac and the beach at Port Gaverne, with its own gardens and parking, “Wayside” is ideally situated within walking distance of all local amenities and both beaches. The house is freshly and tastefully decorated in gentle, restful creams and neutrals, with spacious light and airy rooms (no restricted headroom here) - a mellow 1920’s beach house retreat. The house is fully equipped for modern family living, yet retains many vintage touches. All the doors are original, stripped pine, with floors either stripped boards, or carpeted in a sandy coloured wool loop throughout.

Please note: due to new double glazed windows, the old blue framed ones are now white! Photos will be updated soon.

front view of Wayside

The tranquil plot is large, sunny and provides one of the larger and more sheltered, private gardens in the village, with the house itself sitting well back from the road and pedestrian traffic. There is ample space to store bikes, watersports equipment, wetsuits etc, an outside tap for rinsing outdoor gear and the on site parking is accessed through an 8ft+ wide access drive and can accomodate several cars and a boat. The small private and sheltered rear garden faces south and has level access to the large front garden, with sea views and hedges affording some privacy. Garden furniture comprises a matching teak set of 2 x two-seater benches, 2 carver chairs and table. A rotary washing line & pegs and a barbecue with tools are also provided.

Your keys will take you into:
a fully glazed porch with hanging pegs and storage shelves for coats, shoes & boots, with umbrella and bodyboards provided.

back garden

A stripped pine 1920's front door leads you into the entrance hall with radiator, stripped/sealed floorboards and peg rail for coats. A back stable door provides access to the rear garden via three wide shallow steps.

To the right off this hallway is the double bedroom, beautifully bright with two large double glazed windows, one to the front garden and the second looking west to a beautiful sea view and some spectacular sunsets. There is a double bed (with electric blanket), two bedside cabinets with lamps, hanging rail with hangers, desk/dressing table and chair, large old pine chest of drawers and two Lloyd Loom bedroom chairs. The room is carpeted and has a radiator.

En suite is a bathroom with sealed floorboards, roll top bath with mixer tap and hand held shower, WC and basin, radiator with chrome towel rack over and double glazed window to the rear garden.

To the left of this hallway is:
